Neutralizing Antibody Detection Test
The First FDA-EUA  sVNT Authorized Test

What are Neutralizing Antibodies?

Neutralizing antibodies is a specific type of antibody that is capable of keeping an infectious agent such as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) from infecting cells by neutralizing or inhibiting its biologic effect.

Why are they important?

Neutralizing antibodies prevent the virus from spreading to healthy cells and eliminate the infection during early stages.

In the United States, the vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna and J&J) are authorized for use to produce neutralizing antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

If exposed to SARS-CoV-2, neutralizing antibodies from the vaccines or if previously infected, bind to the spike protein on the virus’ surface and neutralize the virus, preventing it from infecting the cells.

Why should we keep track of neutralizing antibodies?

Comparison of numerical results (% Neutralization) will help monitor the correlates of protection against SARS-CoV-2 over time and assist in determining the appropriateness of a vaccination booster, if needed.

CDC Recommends Booster Shots

CDC recommends people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems receive an additional dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

People aged 18 and older, who received Moderna, can receive their booster after 5 months.

People aged 12 and older, who received Pfizer, can receive their booster after 5 months.

Johnson & Johnson age 18 and older, can receive their booster after 2 months.  Moderna or Pfizer is the preferred booster.

If eligible for a second booster, at least 4 months after your first booster.
